Last weekend I indulged in my new addiction: skiing. Thanks to Recon Instruments MOD (check out their website-it’s unreal!) I enjoy skiing way more. I am just learning basic stuff, but it is so much fun when you can actually see your accomplishments and share it with others.

Sunday was especially nice as weather was gorgeous. I managed to ski throughout a away and snapped couple of images here and there.

Eventhough most of my photos were taken on iPhone, I was brave enough to take my ‘baby’ to the top of the hill and snap this gorgeous panorama. 21 images processed in DxO Optics Pro, HDR processing through Nik’s HDR Efex Pro and stitched in AutoPano Giga.

The only problem – I’m not sure which one of these two shots I like the best. Both of them have their own character and I am having hard time picking just one. What do you think?

“Postcard” Processing

“Balanced” Processing

Thanks!

Let me present this set of amazing imagery of the first sunset of year 2012 as seen from Cypress mountain.

I took Volvo S60 for a ride to the mountain, read a book, while enjoying this magnificent view. Enjoy.

My brother, Kirill, is working on some exctiting project and asked me to take some HDR shots of Coquitlam, BC area.

First we went to Mundy Park to take a shot of Lost Lake, then Lake Lafarge, City Hall, New Port Village at Port Moody, and finally Rocky Point park.

Here are some shots. More coming in his product very soon.

Here is my second QTVR attempt, this time it is Cypress mountain viewpoint. Weather in the city was not perfect for photography, so we went to Cypress mountain – 2010 Olympic competition venue.

This time, I’ve stitched 25 images and trimmed edges. Enjoy and comment

Edit: I had to hide QTVR to speed up load of the Portfolio section. Click on more to view.

I drive by this park eveyday, never knew how to get it, and today was a perfect day to explore it.

Weather is amazing this summer and early fall in Vancouver (knock on wood) and today was beautiful as well. +19C (+66F), sunny, not a cloud in the sky (except for beatiful clouds over the mountain peaks)

Here are autumn colors:

panorama-4-ps-polarI’ve dedicated separate post for this QTVR (QuickTime Virtual Reality) of Palladium Riviera Resort and Spa I’ve recently visited.

I have dozens of photos to share from this trip, both personal and to be included on my Flickr and here pages, which I will upload in the next couple of days. It was challenging creating this QTVR, as originally it started as regular panorama. 22 images were shot in sequence, but Photoshop rejected to stitch them as I wanted (instead of arranging them as 1-2-3-…-21-22m it arranged them as 20-21-22-1-2-3…-18-19) so I’ve played with Polar coordinates filter and them decided to play with QTVR for the first time. I think result is pretty good. Read »

Enchanted forestOne of my co-workers has Whistler summer cabin. Me and my family went on weekend trip over back in April 2009.

We spent great time, weather was good and sun was perfect for shooting. Too bad we don’t sky as it was the perfect time to hit the slopes. Most of the nature imahges wre taken behind Fairmont Chateau Whistler hotel.

There were way more photos, but most of them would go on my family MobileMe site. This are the best of those that I can share with public, Enjoy… Read »

DSC_4731On April 12th, our family visited my mother who lives in Cleveland, Ohio. All of us went to The Holden Arboretum. It is beautifull place for outdoor shots.

Even though there were not too many blooming magnolias and flowers, I’ve found what to shoot.

That was the first time I’ve tried unordinary approach to shooting flowers. Instead of shooting from the top, as I usually did, I shot from the same level on the ground. Purely estimating shutter speeds, aperture and point of focus. My D90 does have LiveView, but I never use it. It is way more fun to see what comes out when shot ‘blindly’ and how good you estimated the angle. Read »
