I’m really suspicious to all things said and showed on the internet, and this video is not exception. Somebody please pinch me as this video from 1994 talks about electronic newspapers.
We see newspapers going to e-publishing thanks to success of tablet device, iPad from Apple in particular. But this video talks about future more than 15 years. Just to put this into perspective: 7 years before release of Mac OS X, 5 years before release of Mac OS 9, 3 years before release of Mac OS 8, and a year before release of Windows 95. Read »
This is pretty cool. By using front camera, app developers can create apps that ‘simulate’ 3D, i.e. glasses-free. Front facing camera tracks face position, esentially what angle is looking at the iPad, and adjust picture on the screen.
We track the head of the user with the front facing camera in order to create a glasses-free monocular 3D display. Such spatially-aware mobile display enables to improve the possibilities of interaction. It does not use the accelerometers and relies only on the front camera.
Well, I’m sorry I lied to all of you when I said that iPad would be released in Canada. Seems that “Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May.”

Apple Media Advisory
Apple today released the following statement:
Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad™. We have also taken a large number of pre-orders for iPad 3G models for delivery by the end of April.
Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May. We will announce international pricing and begin taking online pre-orders on Monday, May 10. We know that many international customers waiting to buy an iPad will be disappointed by this news, but we hope they will be pleased to learn the reason—the iPad is a runaway success in the US thus far.

Here is a set of photos courtesy of Engadget from iPhone OS 4 Preview Event, video from Apple coming soon.
In short, there is: multitasking, folders to organize your applications and get a hold of multiple screens. New features in Mail including: unified Inbox, multiple Exchange accounts, threaded messages and ability to open files in apps.
I must say multitasking looks pretty sleek and hopefully will not drain battery as my iPhone used all my battery by the end of F5-Expo yesterday.
Update: Apple has published Keynote and OS 4 web page Other features include: when emailing image, one can now select on whatever they want to send reduced size image or full resolution. Addition of Places and Faces albums and rotation in Photo app.
Gizmodo reports that they have been invited for “for a sneak peek of the next generation of iPhone OS software” taking place on April8th at 10am PST.
Apple’s just sent an invite “for a sneak peek of the next generation of iPhone OS software” on April 8 at 10AM Pacific. That’s in three days! We’ll be there. Start your predictions now.
I knew even before iPad was released that it will find various applications in real world beside ‘big iPhone’ and book reader.
Here is one of the examples over at Sightglass Coffee Shop in San Francisco. Accompanied by Square headphone jack credit card appliance this business turned ‘big iPhone’ into point-of-sale system.
There will be even more opportunities to incorporate iPad into everyday life of not just business but also consumers. Can’t wait for 3G model…
According to iPad in Canada website, Apple Store employees are advised to not take holidays during weekend of April 24th. Does that mean iPad would be released as promised by Apple ‘late April’ in Canada? I certainly hope so.
If it’s to be released, it would make sense that all three big cell phone providers would jump onboard: Telus, Bell and Rogers. Hopefully they would follow AT&T steps with availabilityof 3G unlimited data plan. On the other side, iPad 3G might not be available in Canada at that time with release sometime later, which will prompt shoppers travel across the board as iPad is not locked to any cell phone provider.
Just a reminder that iPad is to be launched in US this Saturday April 3rd.
According to Engadget, next version of iPhone, sometimes referred to as iPhone 4G which has nothing to do with 4G as in Sprint 4G, to be called iPhone HD thanks to it’s higher resolution display 960×640 up from 320×480 of the current 3Gs model.
Other features to include:
• Front facing camera
• Apple’s A4 chip (surprise!)
• Multitasking, originally scraped from 3.x version
Engadget also mentions release date to be June 22nd.
Just when as you getting more excited, there is a rumor that there will be Verizon version of the iPhone as well. Only us in Canada don’t really care that much, we have 4 providers to choose from (well, fine, 3 as Fido is Rogers)
Just arrived at F5-Expo at Vancouver Convention Center. I bet there will be hundreds tweets, blog posts especially about bumpy start of the expo. Running quickly to the office to grab stack of business cards I thought I would be late for conference kick-off scheduled. Update: Despite computer issues, F5-Staff decided to let everybody with [...]
I’ve neglected my blog for quite some time time now writing only one post per month, if that. With this post I’ve determined to write about all those things I have done in the past 6-9 months but haven’t shared yet. I’ve mentioned our new corporate Rogers Cell phone plans, but haven’t really talked about [...]
Two members of our team were heading oversees, Russia to be exact, for couple of weeks and it was my responsibility to come up with solution for cheaper roaming. One of them was on Telus with World Blackberry while other had personal Fido phone. Telus roams fine in Russia, but bills are outrageous. Telus charges [...]
After shooting Anthony Sedlak at Eat! Vancouver show Friday night, I’ve imported footage from my Sanyo Xacti HD1010 into iMovie 09. I was so happy that by converting .mp4 files into .mov it actually reduces size by 50%. The truth was – it only imported half of the clip.
Saturday, Oct 25th - I just had to order extra shot in my Americano from Starbucks. Even though it wasn’t bad hangover, coming to office at 8am on Saturday is not what I’m used to. I’ve met my friend Igor at Starbucks, two triple Americano with extra shot and we are heading to the office. First [...]
