I’m really suspicious to all things said and showed on the internet, and this video is not exception. Somebody please pinch me as this video from 1994 talks about electronic newspapers.

We see newspapers going to e-publishing thanks to success of tablet device, iPad from Apple in particular. But this video talks about future more than 15 years. Just to put this into perspective: 7 years before release of Mac OS X, 5 years before release of Mac OS 9, 3 years before release of Mac OS 8, and a year before release of Windows 95. Read »

Well SouthPark guys did it again. In the season 15th Premier episode they make fun of location tracking, iTunes agreements and everything else that could make fun of.

Here is sneak peak

Words won’t explain it, you’ve got to watch it.

This is pretty cool. By using front camera, app developers can create apps that ‘simulate’ 3D, i.e. glasses-free. Front facing camera tracks face position, esentially what angle is looking at the iPad, and adjust picture on the screen.

We track the head of the user with the front facing camera in order to create a glasses-free monocular 3D display. Such spatially-aware mobile display enables to improve the possibilities of interaction. It does not use the accelerometers and relies only on the front camera.

hotspot_20110308Ok, I’ve been waiting for this one for a while now. Ever since I’ve learned that Verizon would introduce Personal Hotspot I hoped that Rogers would follow this as well and not block it.

Now, it’s official: iOS 4.3 on Rogers has Personal Hotspot that lets you connect up to 3 devices to share your cell phone data.

Well, I’m sorry I lied to all of you when I said that iPad would be released in Canada. Seems that “Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May.

Here is full press release:

April 14, 2010

Apple Media Advisory

Apple today released the following statement:

Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad™. We have also taken a large number of pre-orders for iPad 3G models for delivery by the end of April.

Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May. We will announce international pricing and begin taking online pre-orders on Monday, May 10. We know that many international customers waiting to buy an iPad will be disappointed by this news, but we hope they will be pleased to learn the reason—the iPad is a runaway success in the US thus far.

Engadget has a story about Scrabble App for iPad and Tile Rack App for iPhones. All three devices, once tethered, become old school Scrabble game.

From Engadget:

We just paired up a couple iPhones (running the free Tile Rack app) and joined in with the iPad over Bluetooth or WiFi (the app makes it unclear as to which particular wireless tech is doing the honors at the moment, but both work) and in moments we were swiping tiles up to the iPad with the best of them.

As I already wrote about some iPad’s applications (not to confuse with apps) as Point-of-Sale system at one of the California’s coffees shops, there are new and even more exciting projects surface.

One of them is installation by SoundMan Audio of iPad into truck’s dashboard as a multimedia centre. This idea is not new, there was a case (could not find original version from HardMac.com) when Mac Mini was installed into Audi.

Now would it be nice if Apple worked with some car manufacturers to incorporate this type of technology in the cars at production level. Kind of like the Sync system Microsoft has with Ford.

ipad-pos-systemI knew even before iPad was released that it will find various applications in real world beside ‘big iPhone’ and book reader.

Here is one of the examples over at Sightglass Coffee Shop in San Francisco. Accompanied by Square headphone jack credit card appliance this business turned ‘big iPhone’ into point-of-sale system.

There will be even more opportunities to incorporate iPad into everyday life of not just business but also consumers. Can’t wait for 3G model…
